 semibored  joined: May 2006 posts: 113 rep power: 5  |  Levi's 501 Shrink to Fit (STF) Okay, so I just got a pair of the cheap Levi's 501 STFs and wasnt completely sure what the first step is that i should take with them. So i fugured id consult the forum using the search tool. HOWEVER, the information on these jeans, although partially available, is completely scattered throughout the forum in a bunch of different threads resulting in new 501 Shrink To Fit threads all the time. So i figured it may help to gather the links to all of the existing threads out there and provide a definative thread for all new questions and specific problems or concerns regarding the 501 STFs. | semibored joined: May 2006 posts: 113 rep power: 5 | heh thanks fellas so i just put my 501 STFs in the tub in some pretty hot water for about half an hour (inside out) and then put them on until they started to dry. to be honest im not really that happy with the results so far in terms of shrinkage. the denim is still nice and dark and quite rigid, but i was hoping that they would shrink a little more in the width of the legs. i normally prefer slim straight or tapered jeans, and i guess it was just wishful thinking that i could make these into a slim pair of jeans. i took some pictures of the jeans before during and after the process that i'll post in here in a bit. | superbored joined: Apr 2006 posts: 837 rep power: 240 | Has anyone ever not shrunk/washed their STF's? I am doing this right now. I bought them true to size-36/32. They are a perfect fit for my preference right now. I figure when they get really dirty, I can take them to the dry cleaners. I know this may seem a little weird, but I just wanted to try it... And I'm not going to be disappointed if they get messed up since I didn't exactly spend a fortune on them. |
