directional norwegian artist gardar eide einarsson has a show at astrup fearnley museum of modern art [on until aug 15]. authority and rebellion are recurrent themes that the artist uses for his work. einarsson also engages with alternative and abject cultures in order to address the workings of contemporary society from within its anomalous manifestations.

for the power has a fragrance exhibition he takes the museum’s existing visual material as a starting point, to create works that relate to both the abstract language of minimalism and the narrative structures of pop art. location: dronningens gate 4 [sentrum].

norwegian jeans brand anti sweden continues its black metal-infused crusade against swedish denim domination. during oslo fashion week’s previous edition the brand presented its new collection made from of recycled swedish jeans [cheap monday, acne, nudie] that had been handed to its flagship store in oslo. the jeans were deconstructed, redesigned and cheekily rebranded as anti sweden.

the new collection features more than just jeans and is once again conceived with the aid of illustrator justin bartlett. it’s even more dark and grim, incorporating metal pins, colossal dark scarves and metal thread for a gruesomely dark look. anti sweden is available at the brand’s flagship store [oslo] and halfway across the planet at 10 corso como [seoul].

criticizing the endless output of overhyped designer toys across the planet, norwegian art collective cupofill stage the one-day all bottled up event at the hvelvet bar on thu - jan 28 [from 5pm] to put it into perspective again. breaking away from the monotony by criticizing yet appreciating the finer aspects of it, cupofill seeks the challenge to illustrate on a 3d surface: a glass beer bottle, considered the ultimate symbol of the consumption of alcoholic beverages in norway.

it’s also where their fascination lies: where do you draw the line between marketing and illustration as the latter is often put to use to sell a product. the work on display at this show should provide for for thought regarding the rules and norms of society. location: norges kreative fagskole, kirkegata 24-26 [sentrum].

we know a good bag when we see one! hailing from oslo, design duo olssøn & barbieri recently launched their latest product, a timeless unisex carrier bag. it’s produced in italy, has a limited-edition of only 50 and comes packaged in a stylish black box. the olssøn & barbieri bag is available at ultimate design haunt pur norsk [oslo] and is expected to be sold shortly at selected stores in copenhagen, stockholm and paris.

here’s some more info on anti sweden, as far as we know the only jeans brand from norway. conceived by oslo-based agency anti, the brand takes inspiration from its homeland, known for its eternal midnight and thriving black metal scene.

anti sweden is a tongue-in-cheek style statement against better-known jeans brands from neighbouring sweden. the brand’s core product are black jeans and it launches with the limited-edition anti sweden 666 jeans, a unisex model available in all sizes.
