over the past five years the nairobi suburb of westlands has become a true party district where peeps from different cultures and backgrounds meet and have fun. it’s one of the very few areas in town where you’re able to meet at night and wander around safely. creative collective urban mirror defines it as the love zone and launches an eponymous art event with a series of activities on sat - dec 12 [from 11.30pm] on the streets of westlands and in the area’s many clubs. a special ‘love matatu‘ equipped with monitors will drive around all night long screening visual and audio art!

french guerilla shnapper jr returns to kibera, a district of nairobi and one of the largest slums on the planet. he met up with a group of women with whom he had collaborated in a project in 2007.
this time 2000 sqm. of rooftops will be covered with photos of the faces of the women of kibera. most of them will have their own photos on their own rooftop and for the first time the material used is water-resistant so that the photo itself will protect the homes in the rainy season. additionally, the train that passes through the area twice daily bears photos of the women’s eyes. we reckon they should also be visible on google earth!
