next to a conference on urban planning, the lagos: absence of systems event at the goethe institut also features an exhibition [on until jul 31] by james inedu george and ayo arigbabu. in a combined artistic and architectural approach they will oppose [in form of pictures, models and words] images of the current living situation in lagos with different approaches on how to improve it. the megacity is in urgent need of systems that allow human life in such a densely populated form: systems for drainage, waste disposal, health and public transport. location: 10 ozumba mbadiwe avenue [victoria island].

from may 2 - jun 6 nine writers will embark on a book tour to four cities across nigeria. dubbed 9 writers, 4 cities: the book tour, it’s a series of book readings, book signings and discussions. each event will be recorded and made available for download online. participating writers are odia ofeimun, toni kan, lindsay barrett, jumoke verissimo, tade ipadeola, joy isi bewaji, eghosa imasuen, a. igoni barrett and bimbo adelakun. the tour will stop at benin city, ibadan, warri and the first event is hosted by writers anonymous at the african artists foundation in lagos [followed by a book party]. tour launch location: 54 raymond nkoju street [ikoyi].

drama meets musical fun in lagos where the crown troupe of africa dance-theatre company perform the socio-political pieces dreams & voices and i pass my neighbour on two occasions. the first show is at university of lagos‘ main auditorium on thu - dec 11 [5pm] with a live gig by beautiful nubia. location: university road [yaba]. a second show is held sun - dec 14 [3pm + 5pm] at the national theatre’s cinema hall with live gigs by nefertiti and akanbiola. location: apapa road [iganmu].
