dublin: vertical thoughts

the exhibition vertical thoughts - morton feldman and the visual arts opens today at the irish museum of modern art [on until jun 27]. the show focuses on the work of american composer morton feldman and the many leading visual artists with whom he was closely associated, including philip guston, willem de kooning, jackson pollock and mark rothko. the show features artworks from feldman’s former collection, as well as from several of the world’s leading galleries. location: royal hospital kilmainham, military road [mount brown].

dublin: a terrible beauty

launching today at dublin’s the hugh lane is a terrible beauty, an exhibition celebrating the centenary of painter francis bacon’s birth [on until mar 7]. this highly interesting show displays paintings, drawings, photographs, unfinished works and even slashed canvases [!]. location: charlemont house, parnell square north [ballybough].

coaches, culchies, costumes and contemporary art! it’s the focus of the town & country show at monster truck gallery, opening there on fri - apr 10 [6pm-late]. on display are works by a whopping 50 contemporary artists who were asked to submit a piece based around the theme of town or country, the urban or the rural.

this show is actually a collab with across the way gallery in kinsealy…where both the show and opening party continue! at 8pm attendees will be picked up by a coach and driven there for part two. participating artists include atsushi kaga, softblondemoustache, peter o’gara, eoin holland and the good hatchery. kick-off location: 73 francis street.
