opening fri - oct 16 [7pm-11pm] at the concrete store is my lover the server, an exhibition by digital artist champagne valentine that explores the phenomenon of internet romance. the show draws on real digital communications with web stalkers, strangers and actual lovers, and re-interprets them in a series of digital and interactive works. location: spuistraat 250 [centrum].

these days design has mass appeal and as the credit crunch continues, it’s no wonder budget design hotels are all the rage. but as most properties merely boast a sleek interior, citizenm takes it a few steps further. its first property launched last year at amsterdam airport and now the new chain opens its first city location in amsterdam’s new financial district. a pan-european roll-out is next, with similar hotels planned in london, milan and copenhagen.

aiming to serve the savvy cosmopolitan traveller, citizenm teamed up with philips and vitra to develop a sustainable luxury hospitality concept that’s as hi-tech and stylish as it is affordable. designed by concrete, each room is prefabricated offsite, then stacked on the pre-built ground floor. this way, the environmental impact is reduced and saves costs…now how’s that for innovation?

all of the 14 sqm. rooms are equipped with user-friendly technology and feature king-size beds [!]. its canteenm offers a slew of fresh foods + beverages and is open at all times. additionally citizenm features comfortable vitra-infused living spaces where to mingle and relax. location: prinses irenestraat 30 [zuid].

a bar is a bar…but what if one hands you the key to a private fridge filled with a wide range of thirst quenchers, ranging from soft drinks to organic juices and from beer to bubbles? enter minibar. it’s a concept so hilariously simple, no one ever thought of this extended living room experience before. so, drop your id at the cashier’s desk, receive a fridge key in return and sip away the liquid of your choice. the urban lounge interior was concocted by amsterdam-based design agency concrete. location: prinsengracht 478 [centrum].
